GROUP SUPPORT PROGRAMS

Circle of ParentsTM ...

Sharing Ideas. Sharing Support    A national network of mutual support and self-help programs in partnership with communities like ours.

We know parenting can be hard. Kids depend on us, and sometimes it seems like none of us could possibly have enough time, strength, or wisdom to give them everything they need. But, help is available -- help from other parents who might have a good idea of what you're going through.

How?    By sitting down and really talking.

Circle of Parents groups usually meet weekly, always free of charge and always confidential. Groups foster an open exchange of ideas, support, information and resources and serve those parenting children of all ages and families of all types. Parents decide the topics, lead the discussion and are involved in all levels of decision-making, with the help of a trained facilitator.  In group, parents talk about anything related to raising kids: discipline, school, health, safety. Circle of Parents provides a friendly, supportive environment where anyone in a parenting role can openly discuss the successes and challenges of raising children.

Across the nation, Circle of Parents groups may have different names -- but they all are there to help those parenting our children find support. In North Carolina, the Circle of Parents groups are led by Prevent Child Abuse at www.preventchildabusenc.org  Prevent Child Abuse North Carolina is the only statewide nonprofit in North Carolina dedicated to the prevention of child abuse and neglect in all forms. Through evidence-based family strengthening programs, public and professional education, and advocacy, they work to ensure that every child has a healthy childhood and the opportunity to grow up to be a caring, contributing adult.

At The CAPP Center we have several Circle of Parents groups:
